Regular Activities

           Being of traditional Victorian layout with pews and without catering facilities St Matthews does not lend itself to the hosting of social events other than occasional concerts or musical evenings, we also do not have a church hall.
This does not however, prevent our very active social committee from organising and holding a full programme of fundraising and fellowship events throughout the year which take place in either the village hall complex or the Dinnington Social Club.
There are two social events held in the club during the early part of the year, a Beetle Drive Evening with Pie and Peas Supper and an annual Quiz Night with a Buffet Supper,
We hold two fairs during the year to raise funds for the church in June and November and these are held in the village hall rooms as is the Harvest Supper on the Saturday evening before the Harvest Festival Service.
St Matthews also hosts Coffee Mornings 10 months of the year (non in July of December) these take place on the second Saturday of the month starting at 10.30am and are held in the Memorial Institute which is part of the village hall complex.
It may be worth mentioning that there is a full and varied programme of events taking place every week at the village hall complex, covering all ages from pre-school to seniors. This is run as a charity and has a management committee of volunteers drawn from the user groups and wider community to manage and maintain the premises as a venue for the various groups and organisations both voluntary and profit making to run clubs and activities for the benefit of the community. The ground are also home to the Scout headquarters, home of the 1st Dinnington Scout Group. Listed below are the activities.
